What to Wear Wednesdays

So I'm back at Current Boutique in Arlington, my local consignment store. I haven't been in awhile and it's always an absolute delight to see my friends who work there. If you all get a chance and need help picking the perfect outfit for any occasion, then trust me all of the ladies at Current Boutique are not only helpful, but super stylish as well.

Here is my 'what to wear' consignment pick for a Mother's Day brunch...

What to Wear Wednesdays: Blue is for Girls

(don't try this leg action at home kids...you may hurt yourselves ;)

I wore this to my 10th wedding anniversary on 11/11/10! And yes this 11/11/11 will be our 11th anniversary...so odd and not planned, believe me I can't think that far ahead! Anyway, what I want to highlight is the versatility of black pants and heels. I will admit that the black pants are new and were bought immediately after spending time with my husbands extremely chic sisters, Karima and Tania, who live in London. I spent a little more than I usually do for higher quality pants, so they will last and I will have the option to consign or give to friends (that's if I ever tire of them). I have worn these pants to parties and just lounging in my home and they always look chic, except when covered in the bane of my existence ...cat hair. The shoes and shirt were both purchased at Current Boutique...yes my go-to consignment store! I have worn the shoes with dresses, skirts and even jeans...you can't go wrong with a simple pair of black heels! The peacock blue silk shirt is one of my absolutely favorite shirts as I can stuff myself silly and hide in its rich reflective folds.

Hope you liked my outfit! If you're in the market for a new (new to you) pair of shoes, maybe classic black pumps or something a bit edgier, then sign up with I-ELLA online clothes consignment and partake in their promotion:

Look Good + Do Good. It's Shoes For Charity

HAPPY CONSIGNMENT SHOPPING FRIENDS!!

A touch of glitter to spark the night...

Marc Jacobs Pink Cotton Shirt $69.95
Paige Straight Leg Denim $56.95
Coach Tan Leather Purse $99.95
Micheal Antonio Gold Glitter Heels $18.95
Gold/Pearl Bauble Earring $25.95

Come on friends and family lets get out and socialize away our winter blues!! Go on a date, have dinner with friends or host a cocktail party in this ensemble! Comfortable and versatile jeans, a dreamy spring inspired shirt, fabulous purse, dazzling earrings and enchanting Cinderella shoes...how could you go wrong??? I would roll up the jeans and since the shoes already make a statement, why not add some crazy socks to increase the wattage!?! Or just save the shoes for summer and pair them with a white goddess dress like Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City...

Hope you all are staying warm and happy!!!! To see what Kat picked out in the Alexandria store go here.

What to Wear Wednesdays

I wore this on New Year's Eve...

Here's a close up of the leopard print..

I have on the same black top as last week...told you it was a go to top for me and it was free, can't beat that! And the shoes are the same as well. I truly don't have a massive wardrobe, I use what I have over and over while being creative with mixing and matching. The leopard dress was bought over 4 years ago at a local consignment store for $4...yes I know, what a deal!! Behind me is a vintage mirror that a friend gave me years ago and the swag on it I got at Current Boutique...it's actually a scarf, so it's multi-functional. And the bamboo framed embroidery was purchased for $3 at the Salvation Army. Second hand ROCKS!!!

For those of you who want to get your leopard on, here's a gorgeous vintage faux fur leopard coat on Etsy for $95...
A Leopard On The Prowl-Free Shipping

Don't you just love her skirt too...what an awesome color combination!

Good luck shopping vintage, second hand and consignment...you'll be the most uniquely dressed lady about town!!!

What to Wear Wednesdays

This is what I wore to my husband's holiday party, every item is second hand, except the tights...

The shirt was given to me by a friend over 5 years ago...it has been the most versatile shirt I own. Being an older shirt circa early nineties I presume, it is very short waisted, so ideal for under dresses or with high pencil skirts. The skirt was purchased at a fabulous consignment store, Current Boutique for under $30. The mary jane Cole Haan shoes were also bought at Current Boutique and they are my current favorites, mostly because my one cat has taken a liking to chewing on my dress shoes...bad kitty!

And last, but not least the necklace is vintage and was given to me by my mother-in-law. It was a gift from my father-in-law to her 35 years ago. I am so blessed to have both her. She treats me with so much love and respect. I love her dearly! Thanks Djamilah!!

And yes I changed Fresh Quince's background....ahhhhgain! Pink it's whats for dinner ;)!

Fresh Quince in 2011

Come January 1st, Fresh Quince will have a new design! I have been grappling with different images and have finally chosen something I love, so pop on over in the New Year to see my fresh new design. Here's a tiny sneak peek...

Also, I have been following a blog called Ish and Chi for quite sometime. The blogger, Viv, has a feature called Fashion Friday, where she photographs herself in gorgeous new attire. Below are some of my favorite outfits...

Stunning, huh??? Anyway, she has inspired me to create a similar feature, but instead of clothes bought new, I will focus on my second hand items. Starting next Wednesday on my What to Wear Wednesday's, I shall photograph myself weekly in all of my consignment, vintage or second hand clothes. I want to share how I have created an entire wardrobe out of used clothing with a few newbies here and there. I hope it will inspire you...remember great style does not have to be bought new!!!

Lastly, I would love love love to hear from you all next year!!!!! A few weeks ago I received an e-mail from a subscriber named Therese who wanted to share her most recent Craigslist find. I was so happy she shared because she bought the most unique and gorgeous bed frame on Craigslist. So, I decided to create a weekly post on Monday's and feature all of your favorite Craigslist, second hand, gotten out of the trash, vintage or antique finds. It doesn't matter where you found it or what it looks like, if it is special to you and your favorite, then I would love to share it on Fresh Quince. So, I hope you all look forward to My Favorite Find posts on Monday's. Here's a sneak peek at Therese's head board, which will be the first item featured starting Jan. 10, 2011...

Please send your favorite find photos to me at freshquince.danielle@gmail.com or you can reply via my e-mail posts. I seriously can't wait to see what you all have found!!!!

A chic pink dress, fun purse, hot heels and stunning necklace just in time for Christmas festivities. Add a silver shawl, warm silver tights and you will be the warmest bell of the ball. If you need extra help in choosing the perfect outfit for the holidays, then read the article Holiday Glam Dressing 101 featured in patch.com (an up and coming local news source) by Delia Sava. I was interviewed for this article a few weeks ago and had a blast. In it you will see me modeling a few consigned ensembles for the holidays and you will get some advice in how to glam it up for the season by me and Current Boutiques very own Amanda, who also did my make-up. If you are local to DC, Amanda at Current Boutique in Arlington is a fabulous make-up artist. She will not only make you look stunning, but will also give helpful tips as she applies your make-up.

Not sure about all of you, but I am really diggin' on hot pink right now...

I wish you all a very Happy Holiday!!!

What to Wear Wednesdays

Resound Teal cotton/wool dress size: large $42.95
Manolo Blahnik Cognac leather pumps size: 10 $168.95
Sterling USA Vintage brown alligator purse $152.95
Pearl and chain necklace $58.95

Thanksgiving is tomorrow, just in case you didn't know, and I thought this outfit would be a perfect complement for the day's festivities. A rich and comfortable teal dress, vintage handbag, versatile necklace and super comfortable heels that you could wear all evening...how could you go wrong?

As you can see below, teal looks fabulous on every skin tone!
Courtesy Real Simple

"Colors on opposite sides of the color wheel enhance each other, which is why strawberries look so good packaged in green containers, Eiseman says. It's not surprising that teal―Pantone 19-4227 TC, the color-wheel opposite of pink―plays up a healthy flush in the skin. Plus, it's more versatile than a bright, summery turquoise, so you can wear it well into the fall with black, brown, and other neutrals." Real Simple Magazine

Don't forget to head over to the Current Boutique blog and check out the great finds Kat has chosen in the Alexandria location.

I-ELLA...clothes consignment on-line

I recently found out about I-ELLA and had to share. It is an on-line clothes consignment site that carries some seriously awesome clothes. They have every thing from Philip Lim 3.1 to J.Crew and it is a breeze to navigate. And options like buy, borrow, swap, sell or lend allow for more...uh options ;). Seriously...going to a party, then why not just borrow a dress for the night??? Not only is this a green fashionista's dream come true, but I-ELLA also supports various social ventures and a percentage of each sale goes towards a charity that you get to pick...how fabulous is that?

Check out some of my favorites below...

Philosophy silver dress

Vera Wang gold pencil skirt

See by Chloe black/white sweater dress (I would be more comfortable with dress)

Diane von Furstenberg black/cream wrap dress

Stella McCartney silk 3/4 sleeve wrap dress

Erin Fetherstone for Target red corduroy dress ($20...how awesome is that?)

I-ELLA is a members only site, but you can use the referral code: INVITE2010 for instant access, which I got from the Green With Glamour's blog...check out what they have to say about I-ELLA here.

Happy second-hand shopping...the greenest way to shop!!!
