A Re-Upholstered Home

Awhile back I received a very sweet comment via e-mail from a Fresh Quince subscriber and this is what it said:
"So glad I don't live in DC.  My basement would need racks to hold all of these fabulous things.  Thanks for posting these, they make my heart sing.
Sue
Milwaukee"

It made my day, so I replied with a thank you, glad you enjoyed and that I love to hear from interested readers. Well, her reply to that was absolutely delightful. She explained that she has been furnishing her home with Craigslist finds for years and that she finally took an upholstery class, so she could re-do all of the gorgeous items she purchased. Isn't that just awesome!!!! She also sent me an article featuring her, her husband and their lovely home in the Journal Sentinel in Milwaukee. And now I want to share her home with you all.

Here's resourceful Sue and her helpful husband in their turquoise kitchen (the stove was purchased on Ebay...I'm diggin' that):

Their eclectic, warm and inviting living room:

In their dining room, she scored a gorgeous table and chairs from, you guessed it, Craigslist...

Her re-upholstery studio...

I have to say, I just adore the moodiness of her studio. The black walls, emerald green work table, black and white prints, fabric galore and a Craigslist chair ready for dress rehearsal.

The other side of the studio with gorgeous handmade curtains, a sewing table and lots of outdoor light...

"I buy pieces of furniture that have lines I like and I reupholster them," Sue said. "I'm always changing things. The neighbors must wonder why we're always hauling furniture in and out." Too funny, as I am sure my neighbors wonder the same about me.

Their totally unique and hip bedroom, with gorgeous CL chairs and dresser...

The other side with a chic headboard she made herself in a reupholstery class...

And last Farfel, their basset hound, in the luscious backyard...

Wasn't that a lovely home with so many personal touches...FABULOUS JOB SUE!!!!  To read more on Sue and her home, as well as see more of her hand made home in the JS article go here. Hope you all enjoyed the tour as much as I did!

  7. Incredible!! I'm so unhandy like this that I can only imagine!! My sister is the expert in this category - she has done many little fabulous footstools and other small projects - nothing like this though!
