What to Wear Wednesdays: Blue is for Girls

(don't try this leg action at home kids...you may hurt yourselves ;)

I wore this to my 10th wedding anniversary on 11/11/10! And yes this 11/11/11 will be our 11th anniversary...so odd and not planned, believe me I can't think that far ahead! Anyway, what I want to highlight is the versatility of black pants and heels. I will admit that the black pants are new and were bought immediately after spending time with my husbands extremely chic sisters, Karima and Tania, who live in London. I spent a little more than I usually do for higher quality pants, so they will last and I will have the option to consign or give to friends (that's if I ever tire of them). I have worn these pants to parties and just lounging in my home and they always look chic, except when covered in the bane of my existence ...cat hair. The shoes and shirt were both purchased at Current Boutique...yes my go-to consignment store! I have worn the shoes with dresses, skirts and even jeans...you can't go wrong with a simple pair of black heels! The peacock blue silk shirt is one of my absolutely favorite shirts as I can stuff myself silly and hide in its rich reflective folds.

Pink is for Boys

Did you know that pink was originally thought of as a masculine color?

I have always thought it odd that many men dislike pink. Countless times I have overheard men say "Real men don't wear pink" or "Pink is for girls". Really???? Such nonsense! Pink is for everyone!

Even my dear son is convinced that pink is not something young men wear... aaahhhh, how do I convince him otherwise? How can I tell him that real men look sexy in hot pink with out him saying 'oh mom'? How do I tell him to not believe everything he hears and know that he takes it to heart? Why be like everyone else, be different, be yourself, but most of all be happy no matter what!!!

For Valentine's this same son made 26 miniature watercolor masterpieces for his classmates and teacher. Here is a sampling (my apologies for the picture quality, as my husband has our camera down in Florida)...

Asian Dining Set $700 (if you don't want it all, you could always ask for just one piece. i'm lovin' the chairs and sideboard...the marbled wood is stunning, that's when you shouldn't paint, if you ask me.)

Velvet Hollywood Regency Sofa $499.99 (ahh...velvet and gorgeous)

Antique French Dining Set (no price, i'm surprised these aren't in an antique store. just look at the detail and pop over to the listing to read a little bit of the history if you're interested. they bought them in Alsace...where my father-in-law is from, so i am particularly interested in these)

Classic Arm Chairs $300/pair (did you all hear...leopard is so in right now and it looks like these are in ab fab condition. i'm just sayin')

Velvet Armless Chair $200 (totally unique and great conversation piece)

Queen Anne Armchair $95 (great price and a great example on how to save on fabric. let's say you are in love with a very expensive patterned fabric. to save on costs, just have the front of the chair upholstered in it and upholster the back in a velvet that matches. people do this all the time!)

Vintage Walnut Wide Dresser $295 (so simple, yet just a stunning piece for a dining sideboard...dinner is served on the buffet! and honestly this is a good price for what it is!)

60's Space Age Bar Stools $195 (these beauties would so be mine, if i had a bar to put them at!! i truly think this is a great price as well. faux croc...you gotta love that!)

Cherry Coffee Table $60 (i like the fact that the trays are removable...fresh cup of tea and biscuits anyone?)
